Tree Size Details: How to Choose the Right Christmas Tree Size
How Christmas Tree Sizes Are Measured
When ordering a real Christmas tree online, it is important to understand how Christmas tree sizes are measured. At A Tree To Your Door, the tree height is measured from the base of the trunk to the very top of the tree. This means the total height includes the trunk, the body of the tree, and the natural top leader.
Because every Christmas tree is a real, naturally grown tree, each one will be slightly different. Some trees may be fuller, some may be narrower, and some may have a longer or shorter top. We do our best to select fresh Christmas trees that fall nicely within the size range you choose, but no two trees are exactly alike.
Choosing the Right Christmas Tree Size for Your Home
Before selecting your Christmas tree size, measure the space where you plan to display your Christmas tree. Be sure to consider your ceiling height, tree stand height, and any tree topper you plan to use. A tree that looks perfect outdoors can feel much taller once it is standing inside your home.
For most homes, we recommend leaving at least 6 to 12 inches of space between the top of the tree and the ceiling, especially if you plan to add a star, angel, bow, or other tree topper. If you are unsure between two sizes, choosing the slightly smaller size can make setup and decorating easier.
Why Christmas Tree Size Ranges Matter
Our Christmas trees are sold in size ranges because real trees do not grow in exact, uniform measurements. For example, a 5.5–6.5 foot Christmas tree may be anywhere within that range when measured from the base of the trunk to the top of the tree.
We try to choose trees toward the higher end of the selected size range whenever possible, but we cannot guarantee that every tree will be at the maximum height. What we do guarantee is that the overall tree height will fall within the size range you selected.
Christmas Tree Size Tips Before You Order
Measure your room before ordering and remember to account for your tree stand and tree topper. If your ceiling is 8 feet tall, a 6.5–7.5 foot tree may be a better fit than a 7.5–8.5 foot tree once the stand and topper are included.
If you are placing a tree in an entryway, apartment, office, porch, or smaller room, a smaller tree may be easier to handle and decorate. Larger trees are a beautiful choice for rooms with higher ceilings or open spaces, but they also require more room for setup, decorating, and watering.
The goal is to choose a fresh Christmas tree that fits comfortably in your space while still giving you the look and feel you want for your holiday tradition.
